If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable sandwich experience in the heart of San Francisco, look no further than Deli Board. Nestled at 1058 Folsom St, this sandwich shop has become a beloved institution among locals and visitors alike, with a reputation for crafting some of the best sandwiches in the city.

Deli Board is known for its gourmet approach to classic deli-style cuisine, featuring a tantalizing menu that promises to satisfy any sandwich lover's cravings. The star of the show is undoubtedly the 49er—a legendary pastrami sandwich that has won over even the toughest critics. Customers rave about its tender, flavorful layering of pastrami perfectly complemented by a crisp, flaky bread that melts in your mouth. “Literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life,” shares one enthusiastic patron, and it’s hard to argue after experiencing the magic of this delicacy.

Other notable mentions include the GoldnBergnStein, brimming with corned beef, Romanian pastrami, and kosher salami, all nestled in a fluffy French roll, and the Mick, a delicious twist on the traditional roast beef sandwich. And let's not forget the charming Waffle Fries paired with the signature Mick Sauce—an addictive combination that customers can't stop raving about.

The ambiance at Deli Board is an essential part of the experience, with a casual, welcoming vibe that invites you to savor every bite. Whether you’re grabbing lunch to-go or sitting down with friends, you'll appreciate the vibrant atmosphere and the sense of community that often comes with waiting in line. Be prepared, though—weekend crowds can lead to a wait of about 40 minutes, but as many previous patrons affirm, the taste of these sandwiches makes the anticipation well worth it.

Reviews from satisfied customers offer a glimpse into what makes Deli Board a local gem. Pooya Fayyaz confidently declares it may very well host the best pastrami sandwich anywhere, even rivaling the famed offerings of Katz’s in NYC. David Mathews echoes this sentiment, highlighting the 49er as a “legend” alongside other delightful choices. So, if you’re ready to experience a true culinary standout, grab your friends, plan accordingly, and prepare your taste buds for a flavor explosion that you won’t forget!

Okay, foodie fam, no exaggeration, this might be the BEST pastrami sandwich I’ve had anywhere — yes, even better than Katz’s in NYC (I said what I said ). Be prepared though: the line is no joke. On weekends, expect to wait around 40 minutes. There’s a limit of 6 sandwiches per person, so plan ahead if you’re coming with a group. My go-to is the 49ers, it’s ridiculously good. The flavors, the texture, everything just hits right. There’s barely any seating, so most people grab their food and find a bench or head to a nearby park. Totally worth the wait, just come hungry and maybe bring a friend to help pass the time in line.

Great place for sandwich/ meat lovers! This might be the best pastrami sandwich especially 49er, I’ve ever had. If you come hungry be prepared to wait for a while!

Well damn. This place lives up to the hype. You must order the 49er. Literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Also tried the Stephanie (tuna and bacon) and the Leroy brown. Both were solid. But the 49er was an absolute legend. Fries and mick sauce delicious. Worth the long line.

If you’re looking for the best sandwich shop in San Francisco, you’re in the right place! From the flavor packed tender pastrami, to the thin crispy bread that perfectly complements every aspect of the sandwich, Deli Board has it all. You can’t go wrong with anything you order—although we ordered the 555, the Leroy Brown and some waffle fries—Believe me when I say that these may very well be the best sandwiches I’ve ever had (and that says a lot coming from my family of foodies!) The cashiers and servers were about as friendly as they come but be prepared for a well worth it wait! Deli Board also lacked any forms of indoor seating. The overall aesthetic, however, was quite cute! They had dried flower bouquets upon the ceiling and hand drawn pictures framed across the wall! Our overall experience at Deli Board was 1000% enjoyed. I insist that anyone visiting San Francisco MUST go to Deli Board. Taking an hour out of your vacation for these sandwiches is well worth it. Do a favor for your taste buds and go to Deli Board!

4.2/5 for the sandwich. Waited 40 mins in line to get my hands on one of these sandwiches. I got the 49er and it was good. The meat was good but the standout for me was the bread. Would come back again but kinda wish they were less expensive. Great restaurant atmosphere too

Had to stop by to see what all the hype was about, and the food did not disappoint! Solid 8.9/10. Portions are generous as one order could easily satisfy two people with a normal appetite. We arrived around 11:30 and only waited about 20 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. I tried the 49er and the Mick (their fancy take on a Big Mac); both were excellent. Bonus points for ample parking nearby!

I got the 49er. Quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever eaten! I am not sure what magic they are using to prepare the meat but it was a beautiful blend of flaky and moist that just tasted so spectacular! I happened to be there on a day that they were out of cherry peppers so jalapeño was used instead. It didn’t matter! Delicious!

Loved the pastrami in my 555 sandwich. The Stephanie (tuna bacon) was very flavorful and was a hit. The Armando (turkey bacon avocado) was not bad but not quite as flavorful as the others. The waffle fries are GREAT and perfect with the included mick sauce. Crispy with very creamy interior.
